Destrehan is beginning to establish itself as the “Running Back U” of Louisiana high school football.
The Wildcats’ standout tailback Kyle Edwards had been being pursued by some of the nation’s top programs including Michigan, Penn State, Notre Dame, Texas A&M and a host of others, but Edwards announced Friday morning via his Twitter account that he was committed to Alabama.

Edwards became the second Destrehan back in as many seasons to commit to an SEC program following in the footsteps of current LSU freshman John Emery.
He patiently bided his time behind the 5-star prospect, and now his turn has arrived to take the reins of the Wildcat backfield.
Edwards, a 3-star prospect on 247sports.com, became the 23rd commitment for the Tide’s 2020 class, and the second running back commitment alongside 4-star prospect Roydell Williams from Hueytown High School in Alabama.
